moving to paris!
hello, i will be moving to paris in a few months and have some questions. i have been to paris twice before and am in love with the city!
1. i am considering attending the american university of paris. any reviews or experiences with this school? are there any other universities in paris that offer journalism?
2. has anyone ever moved from the states to france before? what was the process like? what do i need to do regarding a working permit/visa/anything with legalities?
3. i have taken four years of french in school but my french is still quite poor. are there any computer programs that i can buy to help me learn french from the beginning?
4. how difficult will it be to get a job?
5. i will be moving with my boyfriend. we are looking to get a one bedroom flat/apartment, nothing too huge. about how much will this cost? what is a cheap but nice area of paris to live in/around?
6. how much (in euros) is it for a métro card and what is the time period with them/how do they work? when i was in paris i used the regular tickets, however i saw many people with cards that scanned them and went through.

French Podcasts Hello folks! I recently got a new media player which is not an iPod and went through a bit of a struggle finding non-iTune-formatted French podcasts lessons which can be automatically refreshed via rss feeds. I thought I'd share my hunting with you all! Note that there is a lot of crud out there, and I have not included the crud which turned out to be a waste of time. I've only included the ones I think are good quality lessons. Coffee Break French: This audio podcast is really great. I like the approach and find that I'm learning a lot of vocab effortlessly. Homepage LinkRSS ChannelMa France: This video podcast is cool just because it's video. It looks to be produced by the BBC and features little situations with subtitles and then lessons. Homepage LinkRSS ChannelThe French Pod Class: This audio podcast is longish but doesn't come out that often. It's thus a not too burdensome addition to my list of things I listen to on the bus. Homepage LinkRSS ChanelLearn French With Daily Podcasts: This video podcast is sorta cool. They show pictures and talk about the picture using a mouse pointer to help with vocabulary. Homepage LinkRSS ChannelLearn French by Podcast: This is the old standard audio podcast that is so well thought out and put together. There's a dialogue, a lesson about the dialogue, and then the dialogue is reinforced by being repeated. I like this one a lot. Homepage LinkRSS ChannelFrenchPod 101: I haven't had time to listen to this one yet, so you're on your own. But I thought I'd list it here so that you are aware that it exists.
